New Member Pathway

The links shown below will open a new tab in your browser so that you can return easily to this page.

Join U3A Tauranga

Becoming a member is a straightforward, three-step process:

  • Apply Online: Fill out our secure Personal Details Form.
  • Pay Your Subscription: Your first-year fee covers your membership and your official name badge.
  • Collect Your Badge: Pick it up in person at our next Monthly Meeting.
  • Pro Tip: Keep an eye out for our New Members Meetings held a few times a year. They are a great way to meet Convenors and fellow newcomers!

Find a Group to Join

With over 70 Interest Groups to choose from, there is something for everyone.

  • Browse: Explore groups by Category or Day of the Week.
  • Connect: Contact the Group Convenor by phone, email or use our Enquiry Form. (Don’t forget to mention which group you’re interested in!)
  • Availability: Some groups meet in private homes and may be full, but don’t be discouraged—ask about a waiting list or the possibility of starting a new group.
  • Further Queries: You can also talk to the Coordinator for the Group.

Attend Meetings

We hope you enjoy belonging to U3A Tauranga.

  • Meetings: These range from weekly to monthly.
  • Venues: We meet everywhere—from members’ living rooms, Retirement Village meeting rooms/theatres to local halls and even the great outdoors across the Bay.
  • Costs: Some meetings may have a small “koha” or fee for venue hire, while others are free.
  • The Best Part: There are no exams and no qualifications—just social learning!
  • Monthly Meetings: Join us in Tauranga or Katikati to hear guest speakers and socialize with the wider membership.

Volunteer

U3A runs on the energy of its volunteers. We would love your help in any of these roles:

  • Convenor: Help organise your specific Interest Group.
  • Coordinator: Support our Convenors and liaise with the Executive Committee.
  • Executive Committee: Step into leadership; elections are held every two years.
  • General Support: Lend a hand at Monthly Meetings or share a specific skill you have (IT, accounting, event planning, etc.).
